Homemade Play-Doh Made With Cream of Tartar
Play-Doh, a squeezable, moldable, non-toxic modeling compound, was first introduced in 1956 and is still a mainstay with kids of all ages. Although Play-Doh's ingredients are proprietary, you can make a modeling compound material that's similar to Play-Doh at home with common kitchen ingredients. Add various colors to your homemade Play-Doh to create unique color combinations. For birthday parties and other gatherings, make a large batch of homemade Play-Doh to help keep the kids entertained.

Cook the mixture over medium-high heat while stirring constantly. When the mixture has thickened and pulls away from the sides of the cooking pot, remove the pot from the heat and allow the dough to cool enough to handle it.

4
Remove the mixture from the pot and knead it for two minutes or until it is the texture of Play-Doh.
-
5
Place the homemade Play-Doh in a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. Store the homemade Play-Doh in the refrigerator for up to three months.
