Long gone are the days when you would show your vacation slides using a projector. Now you have hours of video that you can compress onto a DVD and give to the entire family easily. To give your DVDs a professional feel, you can create a customized DVD cover and insert on your computer. Nearly all machines with a DVD burner will have a program that can help you create your DVD insert.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Windows DVD Maker if you have Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate by clicking "Start," then "All Programs," and scrolling down to "Windows DVD Maker." If you do not have Vista Home Premium or Ultimate, skip to Step 3.

    • 2

Select "Jewel Case Maker" from the menu. You can use the template provided, or you can find images to import. Create your insert to your specifications and print your insert.

    • 3

Find the DVD creation software on your machine. If you have a DVD burner on your computer, there is a good chance that you also have DVD creation software. Click "Start," then type "DVD" in the search menu. If you do not find a DVD creation software program, skip to Step 6.

    • 4

Open the program. Select "Jewel Case Maker" or any similar menu (such as DVD Label Creator, etc.). Select "DVD Insert" from the next menu. Create a simple insert using only text or import a picture file from your computer.

    • 5

Print your insert from the program.

    • 6

Download DVD insert templates from the Internet. You will need Microsoft Office or Open Office to use most of these templates.
