Instructions

    • 1

Remove the molding or baseboards from around the perimeter of the room. Gently pry this trim away from the wall and set it aside for reuse.

    • 2

Clean the floor using a vacuum or broom. The floor must be free of dirt, dust and debris before proceeding with installation.

    • 3

Install Harmonics underlayment across the entire floor surface. Unroll the material in rows that extend the length of your room. Overlap each row by a few inches to minimize gaps. Allow the material to continue up the base of the wall about an inch on both sides of the room.

    • 4

Lay your first row of Harmonics laminate along the most visible wall in the room. Use the spacers in your installation kit to create a 1/4-inch expansion gap between the flooring and the wall. Maintain this gap around the entire perimeter of the room as you install the remaining laminate.

    • 5

Hold the second row of flooring at a 20-to-30 degree angle to the first row. Align the tongue-and-groove connectors along the edge of the boards, then press the boards flat to the floor. Place your tapping block on the floor next to the board and tap it with your rubber mallet to ensure that the boards are firmly connected.

    • 6

Continue connecting each row of flooring using this technique. Stagger the joints along each row so that the ends of the boards don't line up. This creates a more stable installation and gives the finished floor a more professional appearance.

    • 7

Cut your Harmonics flooring as needed to fit each row. When using a hand saw, cut with the board face up. When cutting laminate with a power saw, place the board face down when cutting to protect the finish.

    • 8

Hook your pull bar around the edge of the last row of flooring. Pull the bar away from the wall to lock this last row into the adjacent one.

    • 9

Remove all spacers and reinstall the trim or molding to complete the project.
