Essential oils have many internal and topical uses, including as ingredients for light facial moisturizers. Lemon essential oil is particularly effective as a moisturizer ingredient because of its antiseptic, astringent, anti-bacterial, detoxifying, and rejuvenating properties. Lavender essential oil is also effective as it contains antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and calming properties, and can promote healing of acne and other skin disorders including burns and eczema. Keep your essential oil moisturizer in a spritzer bottle for use during the day as a skin refresher or during or after workouts. Things You'll Need

  • 5+ drops of lemon or lavender essential oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tsp. of glycerin
  • Measuring cup
  • Spray bottle

Instructions

      Measure a 1/2 cup of water and pour it into a spray bottle.

      Add 3 tsp. of glycerin to the bottle.

      Add 5 or more drops of lemon or lavender essential oil to the bottle and shake well. Always shake the bottle before spraying the moisturizer on your skin.

Tips & Warnings

  • Also try adding a few drops of lemon or other essential oil to bath oil, shampoo, or lotion for added skin and hair benefits.

  • Do not get essential oils in the eye. If essential oil does get in eye wipe immediately with carrier oil such as sweet almond oil. Water causes the oils to disperse too quickly. Do not ingest moisturizer.
