How to Change a Skil Saw Blade
A Skil saw is only good as the blade you are using to cut material. Using a dull blade will not only give you a poor cut, but it can also be dangerous. There is a button on the Skil saw that will lock the blade so that you can remove the retaining bolt. Replacement Skil saw blades are available at Skil tool dealers and home improvement centers. Unplug the Skil saw power cord from the electrical outlet.

Locate the wrench for removing the saw blade in the rear storage area of the Skil saw. If you no longer have the original wrench, you can use an appropriate-size open-end wrench to loosen the bolt securing the blade to the Skil saw.

Hold the "Lock" button just below the trigger handle and turn the bolt securing the saw blade counterclockwise with the wrench. When the "Lock" button engages, the blade shaft will be in a locked position.

Continue to turn the wrench counterclockwise while holding the "Lock" button and remove the bolt from the shaft. Pull the washer off of the blade and shaft with your fingers.

Pull the lower guard back and pull the saw blade away from the saw. Insert a new saw blade into the saw with the teeth of the blade pointing to the front. Slowly allow the lower guard to go back into position.

Place the washer over the blade face and the shaft. Thread the shaft bolt into the shaft until the bolt is hand-tight. Turn the bolt another 1/8 turn with the wrench.

Tips & Warnings
Put leather gloves on your hands when working with saw blades. The blade teeth are sharp and can cut the skin.
Never change blades with the power cord connected to an outlet.
