How to Import a Movie Into Flash

Flash video has become the Internet standard for media delivery, thanks to its cross-platform compatibility.       Open Adobe Flash Professional and select "Flash File (Action Script 2.0)" from the startup screen.

      Select "File" then "Import" then "Import Video" from the main menu.

      Click the "Browse" button to locate the file you want to import on your computer. If the file is already uploaded to a web server or Flash media server, select "Already deployed to a web server, Flash Video Streaming Service, or Flash Media Server" and enter the web address of the file. Click the "Next" button to continue.

      Select the media control player skin (graphic design scheme) from the "Skin" pull-down menu. Note the preview window will display the way your selected player skin will appear on the web page. Click the "Next" button.

      Read the information displayed in the Flash Video Import dialogue box. For additional documentation about integrating video into Flash, check the "After importing video, view video help topics in Flash Help." Click the "Finish" button to import the video clip.

Tips & Warnings

  • Flash Professional supports importing clips in the FLV, MP4, MOV or 3GPP formats. Videos in any other format will have to be converted to one of those formats before importing.
