How to Write a Personal Profile Page For a Theses

If you've reached the point of your doctoral thesis where you're adding the finishing touches, take a moment to give yourself a pat on the back. You've slogged through years of coursework and research, and the end is in sight. There are only a few more details to keep in mind, such as your personal profile page.

Instructions

1. Give a brief biographical summary (see Resource 1 for samples.) Write where you were born, grew up, and where and how you were educated. Include any details that shed light on your intellectual development (i.e., the community or institution that first sparked your imagination.)

2. Describe your current and future research interests, including the type of institution at which you envision yourself teaching. Make a statement about how you hope your research will be received and how this project connects with your overall goals.

3. Write about your teachers, focusing on how they've influenced your thinking. State your plans for future projects and collaborations.
