How Do I Download to a Sony Walkman From My Computer?
The Sony Walkman has changed dramatically since its introduction over 30 years ago. Music is now stored digitally in the Walkman's internal memory, instead of on audiocassette tapes. You can transfer music stored on your computer onto the Walkman and take it with you anywhere. Downloading music from your computer onto the Walkman will differ slightly depending on whether your Walkman requires a USB cable to connect to the computer or not.

USB Data Cable Transfer

Insert the SonicStage installation disc supplied with your Walkman into the computer and follow the onscreen instructions to install the software.

Open SonicStage on your computer after it is installed.

Connect the small end of the USB data cable to the data jack on your Walkman and connect the other end to a USB jack on your computer.

Select "Transfer" in the "SonicStage" window and choose "ATRAC Audio Device" from the "Destination" drop-down menu. A list of music will appear on the screen.

Choose the songs you want to place on the Walkman and press the "Transfer" button. The "Transfer" button has a symbol of an arrow pointing right. A status bar will appear on the screen, indicating the amount of transfer time remaining. Disconnect the Walkman from the computer when the transfer is complete.

Remove the cap from the end of the Walkman to expose the USB connecting piece.

Plug the Walkman into a USB jack on your computer. Your computer will recognize the Walkman and place it in the "Devices with Removable Storage" list.

Open "My Computer" on your computer and double click "Removable Disk." A window will appear on the screen with the information from your Walkman.

Click on the music you want to add to the Walkman and drag it into the "Removable Disk" window. Do not remove the Walkman from your computer until the transfer is complete.
