How to Meet New Friends & Singles
Meeting new people, making friends and finding dates seem to be harder now then it was years ago. People tend to be shier or more anti-social than in the olden days. In order to connect with people you must take the first step and put yourself out there. You cannot wait for someone to contact you; you will need to take the steps for yourself to become more social.

1
Be yourself. Probably, one of the most important rules when making new friends or trying to find that special someone is to be yourself. If you are yourself, you will make true connections with people who have the same interests and beliefs as yourself.
-
2
Go to church. Many churches offer events for singles only throughout the year. It's a way for the church to recruit new members and connect regular members together.

3
Volunteer your time at a local charity. If you love animals, volunteer at your local humane society. Volunteering will allow you to meet people with like-minded beliefs. You will not only start new friendships while helping others, but you will also create a bond between you and your newly found friends.

4
Get a dog. Owning a dog means you have to walk it, and when you are walking your dog, people tend to come up and start conversations with you. Owning a dog will open up people-meeting opportunities that non-dog owners miss out on. You and your pooch can visit a doggy park and meet other dog owners. This will give you a chance to socialize with them while your dogs play.

5
Start conversations with people. No matter where you are, be it school, the bus or in a line at the grocery store, you will never be able to meet new people if you do not communicate with them.
-
6
Become more friendly. Smiling, making eye contact and just generally being in a good mood will go a long way in meeting new people and making lasting friendships. The friendlier you are the more approachable you seem to people.
