How to Find Out What Model My Toshiba Satellite Is

Knowing the model number of your Toshiba Satellite laptop may be the single most important piece of information you have about your possession. The model number is what allows you to register your laptop with Toshiba, receive service under warranty and look up additional information online. Toshiba Satellite model numbers are mostly alphanumeric and about nine characters long, such as the Satellite "A505-S6004." The model number is usually labeled on your laptop's chassis for easy identification.

Instructions

1. Prepare for inspection. Shut down and laptop and close the lid. Also, if you have any peripherals such as a USB mouse or headphones connected, you may want to disconnect those items, along with your power adapter.

2. Position the laptop. With the lid closed, lay the laptop on its lid with the underside facing up, being careful not to damage or scratch your chassis.

3. Record your model number. The model number will be stickered on the underside of your laptop. The color of the sticker will usually be black and gray, with the words "Toshiba" and "Satellite" labeled across the top. Your model number will appear at the top, for example as "Satellite A505-S6004." Use a pen and paper to record the number.

4. Restore your laptop for normal use. Carefully upright your laptop and reattach any peripherals and chords. You may then proceed to using your laptop as normal.

Tips & Warnings

• You may want to record any additional numbers on the sticker, such as the Part number and Serial number, for future reference.

• Turning your laptop upside down while it is still powered on and the lid open may result in damage.
