How to Make Bear Mace
Bears are some of the most unpredictable animals in the world, so it is wise to carry protection when walking in the woods. A good shot of mace to a bear's face will cause it to retreat--and hopefully not come back. If you do not have the means to buy mace, you can make your own with natural ingredients. Things You'll Need
- 2 Tbsp. capsaicin cream
- 5 habanero peppers
- 4 Tbsp. hot sauce
- Jalapeno pepper juice
- 1 cup Lemon juice
- Latex gloves
- Safety glasses
- Blender
- Spray bottle

Put on the latex gloves and safety glasses.

Slice the habanero peppers in half. Remove all of the seeds and start slicing the slimy portion of the inside of the peel. This section is known as the capsaicin portion, which is what makes the pepper hot and burn. Remove all of the capsaicin portions from all five peppers.

Place the inner portions of the pepper peels in a blender. Add one cup of lemon juice to the blender.

Add two tablespoons of capsaicin cream and four tablespoons of hot sauce to the blender.

Remove the jalapeno peppers from the pepper juice and pour the juice into the blender. Blend the ingredients until the pepper peels and capsaicin cream have liquefied.

Strain the liquid to remove any solid chunks, then add it to a spray bottle.
