How to Glue on a Syndee's Crafts Doll Wig

Making your own personality doll is easy and fun with new mix and match parts. Companies like Secrist, Apple Valley Doll Works, Syndees (which is now out of business) and Doll Dreams etc. make it easy for anyone to make a doll with no experience. The doll kits come in a variety of skin tones, styles of arms, legs and heads and fabric bodies. Instructions

  1. Attaching the Wig

    • 1

Clean the head area first. Use an alcohol swab to wipe the entire head. Do this with a circular motion, covering all areas where the wig will sit.

    • 2

Turn the wig inside out. Pull the hair into a scrunchie or rubber band to keep it out of the way. Mark the front of the wig with something that you can cover up or remove easily, such as a pin or a white tailors chalk mark.

    • 3

On the inside of the wig, on the netting, apply a thin bead of glue in a spiral pattern. Start from the center and work outwards towards the edge.

    • 4

Center the front of the wig on the head and press down. Make sure you work all around the wig so all of the glue comes in contact with the head.

    • 5

Use painters tape or hair tape to hold the wig onto the head while it is setting up and drying in place. Remove the tape when the wig is secure and check to make sure it adhered to the head. If it didn't, spot glue in place.

  • You can adhere Velcro dots to the head and wig so you can change styles.

  • If you choose to use vinyl glue, use it in a well-ventilated area because of its odor.

  • Using vinyl glue can melt the material the head is made of and permanently adhere the wig to the head.

  • Vinyl glue has been known to melt the hair material and wig net.
