How to Use Rolled Oats as a Dog Shampoo
Dog shampoos can be expensive and inefficient. Using rolled oats instead is not only healthier for your dog, it's cheaper. There are a few ways to use oats as shampoo, depending on your dog's needs. An oatmeal soak will ease itching and skin inflammation. A dry oatmeal shampoo will help dry oily or itchy skin, and using an oat poultice will isolate a problem area on your dog's skin.
Instructions

Oatmeal Soak

1
Put a handful of oatmeal into a nylon sock.

Turn the water on and fill the tub with warm water.

Dry Shampoo

Let the oats stand on your dog for 15 to 30 minutes, then comb out.
Oat Poultice

Mix oats and water to make a paste.

Soak a clean washcloth in the poultice mix.
-
11
Apply the soaked washcloth to the problem area. Leave it on your dog for 15 minutes, or for as long as it will allow.
-
12
Repeat several times a day.
