To convert the number of square yards to square feet, first define the number of square yards.

Multiply the number of square yards by three. For example, if you had 9 square yards, you would multiply the 9 x 3 to get 27.

Multiply any fractional amount of yards by 3. For example, if you had 2 ½ yards, you would also multiply the ½ by 3. You can do this with a calculator by putting in 3 x 1, then the division sign, followed by 2. Your answer should be 1 ½ which you would add to the square feet you have already calculated.
