How to Put a Blade on a Stanley Utility Knife

Stanley is a trusted brand of tools that has been around for many years. They offer a wide variety and type of tools, including several models of utility knives. Utility knives typically have a retractable blade which lowers into the handle. Changing the blade in a utility knife is easily accomplished and should be done when the blade gets dull from use. The handles on most newer utility knives slide or twist open. Inside the handle is where the blade can be accessed and is sometimes used to store replacement blades.

Things You'll Need

• Utility knife
• Replacement blades
• Screwdriver (may or may not be needed)

Instructions

1. Look at the utility knife. Most models will have a screw or tightening wheel located about halfway down the knife on one side.

2. Loosen this screw or knob to open the handle of the utility knife. Twist the two sides of the handle to open it.

3. Remove the old blade carefully.

4. Put in the new blade. Twist the handle closed and tighten the knob or screw in the utility knife handle.

5. Dispose of the used utility knife blade.
