How to Get the Oil Smell Out of a New Motorcycle Helmet
It is not uncommon for a motorcycle helmet to get dirty and begin to smell like motor oil. You must use the correct cleaner, however, because harsh chemicals can damage the helmet and make the protective layers less effective. Does this Spark an idea?

Sprinkle some baking powder on the inside lining of the motorcycle helmet. Let it sit overnight. Baking soda is excellent at absorbing strong odors.

Use a vacuum with a hose attachment. Vacuum up the baking soda.

Pour one gallon of hot water into a bucket.

Add two tbsp. of mild dish soap and 1/2-cup of vinegar to the bucket. Mix until all of the ingredients are combined. Vinegar is also an strong odor eliminator.

Dip your soft cloth in this mixture and wipe down the inside of your helmet.

Wait for the motorcycle helmet to dry. Let it air-dry.

Tips & Warnings
You may want to use a mechanic's hand soap if you can't remove the oil odor.
Do not store your helmet near gasoline, oil, or any other cleaning fluid. These products can damage the protective layer of the helmet and make it less effective in the event of a class.
Avoid hanging your helmet from the motorcycle's handle bar as this can damage the inside liner of the helmet.
