How to Kill Fungus Spores
Fungi, including molds and mildews, spread by producing tiny spores. Fungal spores develop into fungus when they are in a favorable environment. Fungal growth can damage buildings and objects, and can also cause allergic reactions or asthma episodes in some people. Fungal spores exist almost everywhere, but you can prevent fungal growth by maintaining a low humidity and efficient air movement. Keeping your house clean will also decrease fungus spores. 1
Measure the current humidity level using a hygrometer, also known as a humidity sensor. If the humidity is above 60 percent, use a dehumidifier to decrease the humidity.

Remove or repair any sources of moisture, such as leaking roofs, cracked walls, plumbing leaks, water spills or wet clothing.
