Cabela's Big Game Hunter is a first-person shooter video game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii consoles. While most first-person shooters feature simulations of war environments, Cabela's instead seeks to simulate the experience of big game hunting, allowing players to attempt to take on a variety of wild animals with their hunting rifles. Challenging the lion unlocks an achievement in the game, but the lion can be difficult to defeat without the proper strategy, as it is strong and can fight back.

Conserve your adrenaline before entering into the lion challenge. Your adrenaline bar is charged by successfully hunting smaller game and allows the user to enter into a slow-motion mode, commonly referred to as "bullet time" in first-person shooters. This is extremely useful against the quick and deadly lion. Be sure to enter with a full bar.

Equip your most powerful rifle. You will be using your adrenaline, so even a slightly less accurate rifle can be used if it packs a bigger punch and will ensure that you defeat the lion in as few shots as possible.

Dodge the lion's initial attack. The lion will enter from the right and charge you, and you must step out of its path as it approaches to prevent being attacked, causing it to run past you.

Activate your adrenaline by pressing the right bumper when the lion is turning around, and as such remaining in the same place, making it nearly immobile with the adrenaline in use.

Fire on the lion with your rifle multiple times until it is defeated. The number of shots will vary by rifle, but it will always require more than one shot.

Complete the mission without missing the lion with a shot or being struck by an attack to earn the achievement, worth 60 gamer points.
