How to Put Sounds on Dreamweaver 8

Dreamweaver is perhaps the most popular HTML editor for website developers and designers. Because Dreamweaver allows users to place elements on a page while the program creates the HTML code to accompany them, it is a program that those with very little experience can use. Dreamweaver 8 users can place audio, videos, and Flash files into a webpage. Placing sounds into Dreamweaver can be advantageous for many websites, especially those that include audio and visual learning.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start" menu in the lower left-hand corner of your computer to open Dreamweaver. Select "All Programs," then "Adobe" and "Adobe Dreamweaver."

    • 2

Open the file in which you want to insert sounds. First click on the "File" menu on the top left of the page after Dreamweaver has fully loaded. Select "Open." A window will open that will allow you to browse your computer for the saved HTML page. If you want to create a new page, simply select "New" after clicking on "File."

    • 3

Click on the area of the page that you want to place the sound file. In some cases, this will be where there already is an image or graphic, however, you may also click on a blank area of the page if you want for the sound file to stand alone.

    • 4

Insert a sound file into the page by clicking on the "Insert" menu, which is located in the toolbar at the top of the page, near the center. When the drop-down menu opens, click on "Media" and "Plugin."

    • 5

Notice that the area in which you inserted the sound file now has a new icon on it. This icon looks something like a puzzle piece.

    • 6

Click on the "Preview" icon at the top of the screen. This icon looks like a small globe. When this page opens, you will be able to preview how your page will function when uploaded online. Click on the area of the page in which you inserted your sound file. Make sure your speakers are on. You should be able to hear the file that was inserted.

    • 7

Repeat steps 2 through 6 to add additional sounds to the page. Save the page by selecting "Ctrl" + "S."

Tips & Warnings

  • Click on the "Code" tab on the screen to view the HTML code associated with the sound file. To make the sound play immediately after the page opens, find the section of code that says "autostart=false" and change "false" to "true."
