How to Store Cookware Lids

Store your cookware lids so they stay in place to be quickly accessed. The large diameter of cookware lids can make them difficult to put away and keep organized. Lids come in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials and often have attached handles that make them incompatible for stacking. Storing the cookware lids vertically and by ascending size with a structured divider will keep them easily visible for the next time you need one. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Rubber-footed metal mail, file, letter, plate or lid divider rack (stainless or vinyl coated)

Instructions

    • 1

Gather all your cookware lids and divide them into four or five groups based on their diameter.

    • 2

Place a sturdy metal divider rack on a stable surface like a counter or into a lower cabinet.

    • 3

Load one cookware lid from each size group into a separate slot of the divider rack. Start with the largest lid in the back and place a lid from each smaller group into a slot as you move forward.

    • 4

Place the remaining cookware lids into the space on the divider rack with lids of corresponding size. Lift, flip and reshuffle lids to get them to nestle against each other and rest securely.

    • 5

Simply lift out a lid to use by moving away any other lids that are resting on it. Keep the divider rack evenly loaded to avoid making it unstable.

Tips & Warnings

  • Lid racks should be regularly hand washed with liquid dish soap and a non-abrasive sponge.

  • Extra space in the divider rack can be filled with cutting boards and pans.
