      Connect one end of the male to male VGA cable to the available port on your computer and the other end to the VGA In port on your flat screen monitor.

      Power on both the flat screen monitor and computer if they are not already on.

      Right click on your desktop and select "Screen Resolution" from the right-click context menu. You may only need to do this if your laptop doesn't automatically detect the new monitor.

      Click the "Detect" button to find any monitors connected to your computer. Select the monitor you want to be the main display by clicking the check box next to "Make this my main display." Click "OK" when you have finished.

Tips & Warnings

  • Using Windows Vista or Window 7, the computer will normally automatically detect the new monitor connection. When it does, a window will appear asking you to make a selection on how you want your monitor to act. When you have finished, making your selection and press "OK," and the computer will remember your preference the next time.

  • If your monitor is connected to your computer and your computer is not displaying to the external monitor, you can press and hold the "Fn" key followed by pressing the "F4" key to enable it.
