.mod files usually come from camcorders and are usually hard to view on your computer. This is where file converter and a media player come into play. You can add your .mod file to your file conversion application to change your file and play it on your new downloaded or purchased media player. Converting a file takes some time, but it is very easy.

Purchase or download a file converter for file converter .mod to .avi or .mpeg. Formats such as .mod are usually hard to view, so in order to make it more accessible, you can converte your .mod file into another format, such as .avi or .mpeg. You can purchase and download the media converter (See Resources). Download the application onto your computer then install it. Once it installs, restart your computer so that it can install completely.

Convert the file. Open the application and click and drag your .mod file into the converter. The converter will ask you where you want to place the converted file and what media format you want to change the file into. Since it is a movie, it will take some time to convert (roughly an hour or two). Once the conversion is complete, you will have to download the correct media player for your new format.

Search for a media player. Many media players are free (.mod media players are usually not free). Depending on the format, you will have to search for a media player that holds your file. Once you have found an appropriate media player, download it and install it into your computer. Unlike before, you do not have to restart your computer once the media player is installed.

Play the video. Open the media player and click and drag the new file onto the media player. From here, the media player will start to play your file.
