How to Spoke a Dirt Bike Tire
Having good spokes is a very important part of keeping your dirt bike in top working condition. Bent or loose spokes can affect the overall handling and feel and responsiveness of your bike, making your ride less enjoyable and impacting the lifespan of your dirt bike. Replacing your dirt bike spokes will make a noticeable difference in the performance of your bike, and all it takes is a little time and effort.

1
Choose a starting spoke if you are replacing all the spokes on the dirt bike wheel. If you are only replacing a few bent or damaged spokes, make sure to locate these and mark or remember them.
-
2
Use a spoke wrench to loosen the spoke bolt closest to the wheel. Loosen the bolt close to the hub.
-
-
3
Finish unscrewing the spoke with your fingers, if it doesn't come all the way off with the wrench. Slide the spoke back and forth until an end pops free of the wheel. If the spoke is seriously damaged or corroded, you may have to work harder to free the spoke from the wheel.
-
4
Replace each spoke immediately after you remove it. By not having more than one spoke removed from the wheel at a time you can help prevent damage or unnecessary complication. If you think you'll have trouble recalling which spokes you've changed, mark each one with a dot using a permanent marker.
-
5
Line the new spoke up with the proper wheel holes after removing its packaging. Hand screw both ends into the screw holes until the spoke is secured to the wheel.
-
6
Tighten the spoke with the spoke wrench until the tension in the prong feels sufficient and highly responsive. Repeat this process until you have replaced all the desired spokes.

Tips & Warnings
Using a wrench other than a spoke wrench for changing the spokes on your dirt bike is inadvisable, as spoke wrenches are designed specifically for this purpose.
