      Open PowerPoint by clicking on the PowerPoint icon. If you do not have a PowerPoint icon on your desktop, click on Finder in your dock and type "PowerPoint" in the search field to locate the application.

      Click "Insert" on the PowerPoint main toolbar.

      Select "Movies and Sounds."

      Select "Sound from File."

      Access the "Files of Type" drop-down menu, and select .MP3.

      Locate the audio file you want to insert into the PowerPoint presentation. Once located, click it and then click "OK."

      Select an option in the dialogue box that appears. Choose either "Automatically" for the music to begin playing automatically, or "When Clicked" for the music to begin once prompted.

      Click on "Slide Show" on the PowerPoint main toolbar and select "Custom Animation."

      Select "Multimedia Settings." Select "Continue Slide Show" next to the "While Playing" section.

      Enter which slide you want the music to stop next to the "Stop Playing" section.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use an iTunes music file in your PowerPoint presentation. It is the wrong format, and it is Copyright-protected.
