How to Connect a Blu-Ray Player

Blu-Ray players are optical media playback devices that support the Blu-Ray and DVD disc formats. Blu-Ray is an extremely high-quality video format that is used to play high-resolution films and games. Hooking up a Blu-Ray player is actually quite simple and isn't much different that setting up a DVD player or VCR. In fact, it should take only a few minutes to get your new player up and running.

Instructions

1. Separate all necessary cords and connectors for your player. Most players will need only an AC adapter plug and an HDMI-out cable. Check your player's instructions for more information.

2. Locate the HDMI output connection on the back of your Blu-Ray player. It will look like a long narrow input about one-inch wide. It should be labeled "HDMI" or "HDMI OUT."

3. Connect your HDMI cable to your Blu-Ray player, then insert the other end of the cable into your television's HDMI input.

4. Plug your Blu-Ray player into a wall outlet, and ensure that the AC adapter is connected to the Blu-Ray player and supplying power.

5. Power on your television and Blu-Ray player; switch your television to the HDMI input channel. If your Blu-Ray player was installed properly, you should be able to use it immediately.
