How to Become a Domain Name Reseller
A domain name reseller is an individual or company who works with a domain registrar to offer domain name services. Domain registrars must be accredited by ICANN, the body that governs domains. Accreditation is a lengthy and expensive process, so if you want to sell domain names it is much easier to become a reseller than it is to become a registrar.

1
Plan out your website. If you have an existing website that you plan to add domain registration services to, you don’t have to do anything until you have completed signing up as a reseller. If you do not have a website, you’ll need to register a domain name and purchase web hosting so you can create a website to resell domain names.

2
Find a domain registrar with which to sign up. The registrar must offer domain reseller packages. It is best to choose a well-known and reliable company such as Godaddy.com or Enom.com. Compare prices and features to decide which service fits what your needs.

3
Complete the registration process. Many registrars offer various pricing plans that include additional features based on how much you pay. Be prepared to give your name, address, email address, phone number and credit card information. You will then select a pricing plan.
-
4
Wait for access to your reseller account. Some domain registrars will provide instant access as soon as you sign up. Others will require an authorization process that could take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
-
5
Access your reseller account. The domain registrar will provide you with an email that explains how to log in to your reseller account. You should login and get accustomed to the tools and features. You will use the information the registrar provides you with to update your existing website to add on domain services or create a new website that advertises your domain registration services.
-
6
Begin offering domain registration services. Once your account is activated you can begin offering services on your website.

Tips & Warnings
If you offer web hosting or web design services, reselling domain names would be a nice add-on service. If you don’t have an existing client base to sell domains to, you should come up with a marketing plan before you begin. Think about who your target market will be and how you will reach it.
People prefer to register domains with companies they trust so you must find a way to build trust and add value. Having a professional website is a must. Also, offering complimentary services such as web hosting, web marketing or web consulting might be a good way to get your foot in the door.
