How to Crochet a Soap Saver
A crocheted soap saver is a small drawstring bag used for holding a bar of soap in the shower. The soap saver can keep the soap together instead of letting it melt all over the tub; its drawstring feature also doubles as a way to hang the bag in the shower. Crochet a soap saver out of worsted-weight cotton yarn and a size US-H crochet hook.

Chain 10, and make a single crochet stitch in the second chain from the hook and every chain across. When you come to the last stitch, make a total of three single crochets to turn; now make single crochet stitches down the opposite side of the starting chain. Finish the round by making two more single crochet stitches in the starting stitch, and join with a slip stitch to form an oval.

For the next round, chain one and work one single crochet stitch in every stitch around; when you come to the stitches on the ends, work three single crochets in those stitches and continue around. For the next five rounds, make one single crochet stitch in every stitch around.

For the following round, which is round eight, chain three and make one double crochet stitch in every stitch around (the beginning chain-three counts as your first double crochet). Join with a slip stitch and make two more rounds of single crochet stitches.

Finish off your work, cut the working yarn, and weave in the ends with a large eye blunt needle. Make a drawstring by making a length of 50 chain stitches and ending with a slip stitch. Use your large-eye blunt needle to weave this drawstring through round eight.

Insert your bar of soap inside the soap saver, tie the drawstring closed, and finish off.

Tips & Warnings
If the soap saver is too large, take out a few rounds before round eight. If it is too small, add a few rounds before round eight.
