1
Crochet a circle using worsted weight yarn and a crochet hook sized US-H. To crochet a circle, begin with two chain stitches. Make six single crochets into the second chain from the hook, and join with a slip stitch to form a circle. For round two, chain one and make two single crochet stitches in every stitch around, and join. For round three, chain one and make one single crochet in the first stitch followed by two single crochets in the next stitch; repeat this pattern around for a total of 18 stitches. Fasten off at the end of this round, and weave in your loose yarn ends using a large-eye blunt needle.

Use a coordinating color of yarn and a large-eye blunt needle to embroider a large design on the circle. Embroider a large mouth using a running stitch, and add eyes with french knot stitches. Or embroider the shape of a star or a heart, also using running stitches. You can even choose your own combination of abstract designs, or match the decorating theme in your kitchen.

For more detailed embroidery, use embroidery thread and a smaller needle. With these materials, you can embroider words or letters on your magnets or simply make smaller, more intricate stitches in your patterns.

4
Use craft glue to attach a magnetic strip to the back of your circle. When the glue dries, your magnet is ready to display.
