How Do I See How Much Memory Is Used on a Mac?
Your Macintosh runs a number of processes on a daily basis, which consumes system memory (RAM). These processes belong to programs, applications and system components. It is important to know how much memory your computer has and the amount that you are using so that you can manage program and file downloads effectively and improve your computer's overall performance.

Double-click the Macintosh HD drive on the desktop and click the "Places" link on the left panel.

Click the "Applications" and double-click the "Utilities" folder. Click the "Activity Monitor" program located in the Utilities folder.

Click the "System Memory" button near the bottom of Activity Monitor window. You should see the total amount of memory your computer has and the amount that you are using.
