Calculate the amount of acreage for a rectangular field by measuring the length and width of the field in feet. Multiply the length by the width, and then divide the product by 43,560. The result is the acre size. For example, a rectangular field measuring 200 feet in length by 100 feet in width would total 0.46 acres.

Figure acre size for a triangular field by calculating its area, using the geometric theory of multiplying base times height. Measure the length of one side of the triangle in feet (the "base"), and then measure the distance between the point of the triangle and the side you just measured (the "height").
