How to Clean a White Crocheted Dress

A white crocheted dress is a beautiful garment and is sure to get attention when you wear it out on the town. But cleaning white crocheted material can be challenging. • 1 lemon or lemon juice
• Mild detergent
• Warm water
• Large towel

Instructions

1. Spread the garment out on a nonporous surface so that the stain is exposed. Squeeze a lemon to loosen the juice inside, and then cut the lemon in half and squeeze the lemon juice all over the stain. Allow the juice to sit on the stain for about 30 minutes.

2. Hand wash the white crocheted dress in warm water using a mild detergent, such a Woolite. Use only warm water, never hot water or water that is too cold. Gently work the detergent through the crocheted dress, never scrubbing it. This will damage the crochet fibers.

3. Rinse the dress in clean warm water, being sure that all of the soap is flushed out of the fabric. Roll the dress in a clean towel, gently pressing to remove the water. Repeat with another dry towel if the garment is still too wet.

4. Lay the garment flat in a sunlit area, shaping it into the correct form. Allow the garment to dry completely in the sun. The sun will interact with the lemon juice to remove the spot and will help to reduce yellowing.
