How Do I Get My Canon XSi Pictures Taken in Sports Mode to Not Be Blurry?

The sports mode on the Canon XSi digital camera is designed to take pictures of fast-moving subjects without distortion or making the images blurry. The sports mode functions the same as a film-based camera with a fast speed of film (such as an ISO of 400 or 800). However, after taking some pictures with your Canon XSi you may still see some distortion in the image. In most cases you can prevent this by adjusting the way you take the picture.

Instructions

1. Mount your Canon XSi camera onto a tripod when taking pictures. If you hands aren't steady, you can actually cause the image to blur.

2. Move the camera with the motion. If the object you are taking a picture of is moving to the right, pan to the right with the object and take a picture. Moving the camera in the same direction while taking the picture reduces the effects of motion blur.

3. Take the picture during the day. At night, the camera needs the lens open longer to take the image (in order to absorb more light). Because of this, your images are more likely to come out blurry.

4. Take the picture from a stationary object. Driving in a car while photographing an object moving in the opposite direction may still end up blurring the image.
