Decide on the type of Christmas card you want to create and sketch your ideas out to formulate your design. You can buy craft paper for hand-drawn cards, or you can use a program such as Microsoft Paint, which is very user friendly. You can also use a program such as Photoshop or the freeware software GIMP.

If you are using Paint, create your basic graphic. You can open clip art, other artwork or photos you have saved on your computer. You can also scan in a drawing that your child has done. You may even want to help your child create a design in the program, as it is very easy to use. You can leave one side of the interior panel of the card blank so that you can add embellishments. Then print your creation on card stock.

Use craft glue to add your embellishments. Cut out a snowman and glue it on one side of your card or the front panel, add snowflakes with glitter or even use cotton balls to create Santa's beard.
Remember to use nontoxic glue when you are working with young children. And make sure the glue is dry before you give your card to its recipient.
