How to Get Rid of Whiteheads on Face

Dealing with acne is never fun, especially when you have to take care of whiteheads. This is the term for oils and bacteria that are trapped below the surface of the skin resulting in small white spots. The white spots don’t feel very small when you look in a mirror before an important event. If this is a severe problem and you have many whiteheads, visit a dermatologist. However, if you just have a few whiteheads, there are some steps you can take at home to get rid of whiteheads on your face.

Things You'll Need

• Skincare products
• Sewing needle
• Rubbing alcohol
• Clean tissues

Instructions

1. Stock up on skin care products that contain alpha hydroxyl acids or salicylic acid. These products unclog pores on the face so you can clean the whiteheads off easily.

2. Soak a washcloth under hot water and place it over the whitehead. Sometimes this causes the whitehead to shrink away.

3. Disinfect a sewing needle by wiping it down with a clean tissue and some rubbing alcohol. Gently poke the surface of the whitehead.

4. Wrap a tissue around the index finger on each of your hands. Place your index fingers on either side of the white head and gently squeeze using an up-and-in motion.

5. Avoid pressing too hard against the white head. If it’s not ready to pop, it could get infected. If it is ready, continue gently squeezing until all the white is gone and blood or clear fluid comes out of the area where the whitehead used to be.

6. Keep your face clear of whiteheads for the long term by washing your face regularly. Exfoliate your skin with a gentle exfoliate at least two times a week. Drink a lot of water to remove any toxins from your body and skin.

Tips & Warnings

• Get rid of whiteheads on your face by closing the pores with toner after cleaning your face. Use oil-free makeup if you get whiteheads easily; the oils increase the chance of clogged pores that result in whiteheads.

• See a dermatologist if you have whiteheads on or near your eyes. Do not use a needle near your eyes.
