How to Reinstall DSL With No ISP Disc

DSL Internet typically requires a modem to use. When you sign up for DSL service, you are usually sent a self-installation kit with the modem and wires necessary. In addition, many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) also include software with the kits that you would need to install before using DSL. However, if you have lost or damaged the disk, there are other options.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the DSL modem to the PC and to the phone jack as you normally would. DSL modems have generic drivers for most operating systems. Chances are your DSL modem will work without the specific software that your ISP has. Note that you may still need to log in using a Web browser to access the Internet.

Find a download containing your ISP's software and install it. Many ISPs have their software available for download from their website, usually in the Support or Technical support section of the website.

Contact your ISP's technical support and have them send you a new installation CD. Alternatively, you can also have them guide you through any specific steps needed to set up DSL without the CD.
