Levolor manufactures window coverings including vertical blinds, cellular shades, and roller shades. These window blinds are available in an assortment of materials such as aluminum, fabric, wood and vinyl, and are available in custom sizes. If, when you ordered the blinds, you measured incorrectly or ordered the wrong size by accident, the blinds may not fit your window exactly when you try to install them. Whatever the reason, most types of wooden Levolor blinds that come in slats can be cut to the correct width with a few tools.
Step 1
Raise the Levolor blinds out of their brackets with your hands and lay them on a level surface.

Step 2
Tie the lift cords in a loose knot. Pry off the plugs in the underside of the bottom rail or metal bar with a flat head screwdriver. Undo the knots in the ends of the strings and pull the strings out through the holes in each slat. Grab the slats and slide them out of the string ladders that hold them.
Step 3
Pile the slats one on top of another and align the ends. Wrap a large rubber band around the slats. Wind masking tape around the ends of the slats so they do not splinter when you cut them. Mark the place where you need to cut the blinds to make them fit your window's measurements on the masking tape with a pen. Cut the slats slowly with a hacksaw over the mark you made.
Step 4
Remove the metal pieces on the ends of the head rail; the head rail is the long metal piece that holds the blinds. Use a measuring tape to determine where to cut the head rail so that it will match the width of your blinds and place a pen mark in that location. Carefully cut along the line on the head rail with a hacksaw. Repeat for the bottom rail. Push the metal pieces back onto the ends of both rails.
Step 5
Mark a line to indicate the width of your window on the valance, which covers the head rail, with a pen so you know where to trim it. Cut along the line carefully with the hacksaw.
Step 6
Push the slats back into the string ladders gently and make sure they are all facing the same direction as they were before you removed them. Thread the string back through the holes in the slats, beginning at the top of the blinds.
Step 7
Run the string into the opening in the bottom rail and tie it in a double knot. Rehang the blinds and check that they operate correctly.
