How Do I Back Up My Toshiba Laptop Computer?

However, you have several different options when it comes to backing up your files. Depending on what you have available on your system you can use a burnable CD/DVD, USB flash drive or an external hard drive.

      Connect the external device to an available USB port on the Toshiba laptop computer.

      Click the "Start" button, followed by "Computer" . Its "My Computer" on older versions of Windows

      Double-click the removable drive's icon to open a window displaying all of the files currently stored on the drive.

      Click-and-drag the files you want to back up into the open device window. Once the copy is complete, you can eject the drive from the computer--close out the window, right-click the drive icon and select "Eject".

    Blank CD/DVD

      Insert the blank CD or DVD into the CD/DVD burner on the Toshiba laptop computer.

      Launch the burning software installed on your system. Select to create a data disk so you copy a variety of different file types onto the computer.
