How to Chat With a Gmail Address in Windows Live Messenger
Windows Live Messenger is an instant messaging program that is designed to work with the Windows operating system. Windows Live Messenger allows you to chat online with friends, family and colleagues in real time, all by simply logging in to the network with your email address. However, to use your Gmail account with Windows Live Messenger, you must first register it. Create credentials for an email address from any email provider, including a Gmail account, in a few easy steps.

Go to the Windows Live ID “Create Credentials” online sign-up form (see Resources section).

Enter your Gmail address in the "E-mail Address" field.

Create a password by entering it in the "Password" and "Retype Password" fields.

Choose a secret question and answer which will be used to confirm your identity in the event you forget your password. Enter the validation code, and click "Continue."

Re-type your email address in the field provided on the following page. Click the “I Accept” button.

Log in to your Gmail account. Open the confirmation email that Windows Live has sent, and click the confirmation link to be redirected to the website.

Click the “Continue” button.

Open Windows Live Messenger. Log in using the Gmail address you provided and the password you created during the sign-up process. Chat away.
