How to Adjust the Floor Vents in Your House

It may become necessary to adjust the floor vents in your house to better regulate the temperature in each room. This is a very easy task to complete and the typical homeowner can do it. 1
Look closely at your floor vents. The adjustment lever will either be on the side of the vent or in the middle of it.
-
2
Grasp the adjustment lever and slide it either up or down to close the floor vent. Look inside through the grating on the vent to see which direction opens or closes it. In the closed position, a piece of metal will move in front of grating to block airflow.

3
Check to see if the floor vents are opened all the way in the room that isn't comfortable. If they are closed or partially closed, open them.
-
4
Close the vents slightly in other rooms if opening the floor vents in the previous room doesn't solve the problem. By doing this, more air will be directed to the uncomfortable room and the temperature should even out.
