How to Print the Internet History in Vista
Sometimes you might want a record of the Internet history on a computer, for whatever reason. However, when you view your Internet history via Windows Explorer, there is no option for you to print. So if you want to print the Internet history in Vista, you have to view the Internet history with a program that features a print option. Your Internet history is stored in the index.dat file, which is a hidden file that can be read with the appropriate software.

Click on “Start,” and input “Folder Options” into the search bar before pressing “Enter.”

Click on “Folder Options” to open the “Folder Options” window, and click on the “View” tab.

Select “Show hidden files and folder” beneath the “Hidden files and folders” heading.

Deselect the options to “Hide extensions for known file types” and to “Hide protected operating system files.” Click “Apply” to apply your changes and “OK” to exit the window.

Click “Start” again, and then input “index.dat” into the search bar before pressing “Enter.”

Download an index.dat file reader to your computer, and then open the index.dat file within the reader to view the file. Click the “Print” option within the reader to print the file.

Tips & Warnings
Your computer might contain more than one index.dat file, depending upon how much history you have stored on your computer.
Beware of leaving hidden files and folders and protected operating system files visible because they could become damaged if you do.
