How to Alter the BIOS on a Dell Studio 17 Laptop
If you enter the BIOS on your Dell Studio 17" laptop computer, you can make important changes to the way your computer operates. You can change things like which device is the boot device, as well as other system settings. It is important that you not change any settings that you don't have express knowledge of, because in doing so you could accidentally prevent your computer from loading your operating system.

Restart your Dell Studio 17" laptop computer.

Strike the "F2" keyboard key repeatedly. This will enter the BIOS on your laptop.

Use the arrow keys to highlight different settings categories, and the "Enter" key to select them. You cannot use your computer's mouse while working on the BIOS, so you'll be confined to the keyboard.

Select "Save and Exit" when you're doing altering the BIOS. This will save the changes you've made and restart your computer. When your Dell laptop boots back up it will immediately be working off of your recent BIOS changes.
