Samsung DLP Projector Troubleshooting

A Samsung DLP projector is a stand-alone unit used to amplify media so that it displays on a screen. These units attach to an input device, such as a TV or computer, and project whatever plays there onto a big screen. Modern day projectors are the equivalent of the old slide projectors used for decades. Today’s advanced technology has improved on the original by using this method for media such as movies, presentations and digital photos. Setting up a DLP projector can be complicated. If you have problems with your projector, do a little troubleshooting before calling a service technician.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the power cable connections. Make sure the plug is secured, the outlet works and that the unit is on.

    • 2

Locate and verify the cable connections work. Unplug the connection for 30 seconds, and then reattach.

    • 3

Verify the port connections are correct. Unplug the projector from the input device and reinstall.

    • 4

Look at the remote control. Verify battery installation. There must be nothing blocking the remote and the projector. Turn off the lights and see if the remote works. Direct lighting can affect the sensor on the remote.

    • 5

Verify the settings for color and brightness are not at the low limit. This will keep you from seeing any images. Adjust the tint, contrast and focus to improve the picture.

    • 6

Open the projector menu on your screen. Select “Factory Default,” this will revert all settings to default. If a setting is messing up the functioning of the projector, this will correct the problem.

    • 7

Check the menu setting for screen view. Open Menu>Setup>Install. For behind the screen projection, you select "Rear-Floor." For front projection, select "Front-floor."

    • 8

Move the projector back or forward. You may not be the correct distance from the screen.
