How to Get Rid of Dryer Sheet Smells
You may love the way dryer sheets remove the static clean from your clothes, but that does not mean you love the perfumed scent that they leave on your freshly laundered clothes. Some sheets in particular leave such a strong odor that the clothes carry the scent for days. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Remove your lint filter and clean it. Dryer sheets leave a waxy substance in your dryer that can clog your lint filter. Sometimes what you smell is the cumulative effect of months of dryer sheet grit built up. You can clean your filter easily with a toothbrush, detergent and water, rinsing thoroughly when you are done. This will also help your dryer work more efficiently, which might help cut down on your energy bills.

Put a large bowl of vinegar on the floor and leave it there for several days. The vinegar will absorb the over-scented dry sheet odor. You can also use the vinegar in the final rinse of the washing machine to eliminate any scents trapped in your clothes.

Put baking soda, chalk and activated charcoal in a large open container, recommends the University of Missouri. Put the dryer sheet-scented clothes in the container for several hours, then remove. Wash the clothes, and check to see if the smell is gone. If it's not, put them back in the container, and this time, close it up. Leave them there for several more hours, then take them out and wash them again.

Sprinkle baking soda on every surface in the laundry area, and leave it there for a day. Vacuum thoroughly. Like vinegar, it can absorb odors, so you're removing the odors when you remove the baking soda.

Use unscented dryer sheets once the smell is finally gone.
