Determine when you want to visit Walt Disney World. Mid-January through early April often has significantly fewer crowds than the summer months and late November through early January.

Walk around the resort to appreciate the ambiance upon arrival. Each section of the resort is themed to one of five different music genres: Broadway, calypso, country fair, jazz and rock. The calypso section has staircases that look like huge bongo drums and the Broadway area makes you feel like you are walking down the Great White Way in New York City itself.

Explore the accommodations that are available to you right on the resort property. The center building, named Melody Hall, includes the main lobby check-in desk and the Intermission Food Court, where you can grab a snack or meal. You can also shop for yourself or others at Maestro Mickey's gift shop or play arcade games at the Note'able Games arcade.

Take a dip in one of the two musically-themed pools. The main pool is located in the Calypso section and is guitar-shaped, whereas the smaller pool is shaped like a grand piano.

Hop on a shuttle to any one of the four Disney Parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot), two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach) or the Downtown Disney area (full of shops, restaurants, and the Cirque Du Soliel-La Nouba show). It isn't more than a 20-minute shuttle ride to any of these locations.
