How to Block an Email Account From Your Computer

The easiest way to block an email account from your computer is to use the spam and block option provided in the email software package you are using. Every email software package has spam filters and settings that you can use to block or assign an email address as spam. Once an email address is added to one of these lists, you no longer receive emails from this email address. The spam and block email options allow you to add or remove email addresses.

Instructions

1. Open your email package and find the mail options and settings. In Yahoo, sign in to your Yahoo mail account and click "Options > Mail Options" on the right side of your browser window. In Mac Mail, click "Mail > Preferences."

2. Click "Spam" to see the Yahoo "Blocked Email Addresses" section. Type the email address you want blocked and click the "Add" button. Select the "Rules" tab in Mac Mail and enter the email address you want blocked after the "From" and "Contains" in the "Rules" dialog box.

3. Click "OK" to save the blocked email address in Mac Mail and then click "Apply" to apply the new rule. In Yahoo, click "Save Changes." The email addresses you added are now blocked from accessing your email account.
