Homemade Beanbags
Beanbags are an all-purpose toy that appeal to kids of all ages, and can be used in a variety of games. They easily can be made with basic sewing skills and a few materials you may already have in your home. Add a box with a hole or rings on the floor and you've got a beanbag toss game that will keep the children entertained for hours.
Things You'll Need
- Fabric scraps
- Cardboard
- Ruler
- Pen
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Thread
- Funnel
- Dried beans (8 to 16 ounces per bag)

Choose a variety of fun, colored fabrics for your beanbags.

Measure a four- to six-inch square on a piece of cardboard. Cut out this square for use as a template for the beanbags.

Use the template to cut out two squares of cloth for every beanbag you want to make.

Sandwich each pair of squares together with the side you want on the outside on the inside. Sew along the edges of the squares. Leave at least a two-inch opening on one side for the bean filling. Double stitch the edges for extra reinforcement.

Use the open hole to turn the beanbag right side out. Push out all of the corners with the tip of a pen.

Use a funnel to fill each bag with beans. Use between eight and 16 ounces of beans to achieve the weight you desire.

Sew up the hole with your sewing machine. Go over it a few times to make sure it can't pop open.

Tips & Warnings
Make different sized bean bags appropriate for the child's age.
Create a cardboard box character with an open mouth to toss beanbags into.
Make sure your stitching is sturdy, as beanbags will get tossed around a lot, and you don't want to have to pick up hundreds of little beans around the house.
