Instructions

    • 1

Choose a variety of fun, colored fabrics for your beanbags.

    • 2

Measure a four- to six-inch square on a piece of cardboard. Cut out this square for use as a template for the beanbags.

    • 3

Use the template to cut out two squares of cloth for every beanbag you want to make.

    • 4

Sandwich each pair of squares together with the side you want on the outside on the inside. Sew along the edges of the squares. Leave at least a two-inch opening on one side for the bean filling. Double stitch the edges for extra reinforcement.

    • 5

Use the open hole to turn the beanbag right side out. Push out all of the corners with the tip of a pen.

    • 6

Use a funnel to fill each bag with beans. Use between eight and 16 ounces of beans to achieve the weight you desire.

    • 7

Sew up the hole with your sewing machine. Go over it a few times to make sure it can't pop open.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make different sized bean bags appropriate for the child's age.

  • Create a cardboard box character with an open mouth to toss beanbags into.

  • Make sure your stitching is sturdy, as beanbags will get tossed around a lot, and you don't want to have to pick up hundreds of little beans around the house.
