A Christmas tree is the centerpiece in the living room of many homes during the holiday season and the highlight of a Christmas home tour when you have guests. Part of creating a beautiful tree is the proper placement of the decorations, such as strings of beads or garlands.

Collect your supplies and a step stool
Before you start putting up your Christmas tree decorations and beads, make sure you have all of the supplies that you need. In general, you will use two strands of beaded strings per 1 vertical foot of tree.
Importantly, set a step stool next to the tree so that you can easily and safely access the very top. Hanging beaded strings is much easier when you have another person to help you.
Tip
It's much easier to place the bead strings onto the tree before placing the ornaments. Place the Christmas lights on the tree before you drape the bead strings.
Start stringing beads below the Christmas tree topper
Place the end of one bead string into the top center of the tree approximately 4 inches from the top. Wrap the end around a branch once or twice to secure it, making sure that the end is not visible from the outside of the tree.
Drape the beaded garland around the holiday tree
Loosely drape the bead string down and around the tree in a spiraling motion. Space each spiral at approximately 8-inch intervals on the top third of the tree.
Wrap more beaded holiday garlands around the tree
Go back and drape the bead string between the tree branches after wrapping the beaded string around the tree two or three times. This creates a more pleasing visual effect rather than having a straight spiral pattern.
Continue wrapping the beaded string around the tree. Begin spacing the spiral loops at smaller intervals once you pass the top third of the tree. The spacing between spirals can be reduced to around 6 inches apart.
Secure the end of the bead Christmas tree garland
Tuck the end of the beaded string into the center bottom of the tree so that it is not visible.
Apply the finishing touches to the Christmas tree
Stand back and look at the tree. Make any adjustments to the bead string, such as making additional drapes. You can have the string of beads as the only decoration or utilize the beads with other Christmas decor ideas, like adding Christmas tree ornaments, pine cones or tinsel to the tree. Add a tree skirt and Christmas tree topper if you haven't already.
Whether you choose a wood bead garland or a string with shiny beads, thoughtfully hanging the beads adds something special to your Christmas tree decorations. Start at the top of the tree and work your way down with the string of beads, taking time to step back and adjust the beads as you go. Hide the end of the beads near the bottom of the tree and add the rest of your ornaments to complete your family's perfect Christmas tree.
