How to Condition Clear Rubber Stamps

Clear rubber stamps are a staple in the scrapbooking and paper crafting community. These convenient stamps are affordable and come in a wide variety of design options. One simple stamping can change the entire look of a scrapbook page and the stamp can be printed in nearly any color you choose. Conditioning the clear rubber stamp before using will allow the ink to transfer the print more evenly. A conditioning treatment will also prevent ink from drying on the stamp.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour a stamp conditioning cleaner directly onto the stamp and scrub with an old cloth. Repeat until all loose residue has been removed.

    • 2

Erase any remaining ink or residue with a pencil eraser. The eraser will safely scrub off residue and dried-on ink without damaging the rubber stamper itself. This works especially well on clear stamps, as it removes the residue that deteriorates the look of the stamp.

    • 3

Rub a fine grain sandpaper over any residue remains on the stamp. This will even out the texture of the stamp. Rub first in one direction, then once more in the opposite direction.

    • 4

Rub a stamp conditioning cleaner over the stamp once more, then rub with a dry cloth to remove any remaining residue that has been lifted from the stamp.
