How to Convert Print Shop for Mac to PC

Print Shop is a desktop publishing tool for the Mac and PC that you can use to easily create brochures, newsletters, banners, calendars, invitations and labels. Designed for computer novices, Print Shop has a simple, straightforward interface including a CD with thousands of clip art images to use in your designs. Although Print Shop has versions for both the Mac and PC, each version saves its files in a proprietary format that cannot be opened on the other platform. Luckily, there is a quick workaround for opening Print Shop files created with a Mac on your personal computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the file in Print Shop on your Macintosh computer by choosing "Open" from the File menu.

    • 2

Export the file in a format that can be read on the PC by choosing "Export" from the File menu. A drop-down list box will appear where you can select the file format. Common file formats that can be read on the PC include .tiff, .jpeg, .pict or .bmp.

    • 3

Select your file format from the list, select the directory where you want the export file to be saved then click "Export." Print Shop exports the file in the selected format and saves it in your directory.

    • 4

Locate the exported print file and transfer it to your PC. You can physically transfer the file by burning a DVD or saving it to a USB flash drive. Or you can email the file or transfer your file over a network.

    • 5

Start your PC and open the file in Print Shop for the PC or another graphics program, such as Photoshop.

Tips & Warnings

  • For the best graphics results, export as .png. The .png format is not compressed, like a .jpeg, and produces the best possible graphics quality for the PC.

  • Don't export as a PDF unless you are able to edit the PDF in another graphics program on your PC. Most graphic programs are unable to edit PDF files.
