How to Open a DOC Online
If you don't have Microsoft Word on your computer, you may have trouble opening and viewing DOC (Microsoft Word) files. There are several programs you can download to read DOC files on your computer, including Word Viewer and OpenOffice. If you don't want to download and install a whole program just to read a few Word documents, however, you can easily view DOC files online and even save them to your computer in a different format.
Instructions

1
Search the web address of an online DOC file in Google. Click “View as HTML” under the link to the file itself. (Not all Word documents have this option.)
-
2
Copy and paste the URL of an online Word document, or browse and select a Word document on your computer, using Online Viewer for PDF, PostScript and Word or View Docs Online. Online Viewer will display your DOC file as a web page, where you can view the text or copy and paste it into a word processor. View Docs Online gives you the option to download the file as a PDF.

3
Create an account with Google Docs or Zoho Writer. Upload a DOC file to view and edit it online or save it in other formats, as well as organize uploaded files online. Google Docs has a file size limit of 500 KB for text documents (plus 2 MB per image for embedded images) and a limit of 5,000 documents overall, while Zoho Writer has unlimited file storage in its beta form (which will likely decrease to 1 GB total storage).

Tips & Warnings
Of the online DOC viewers mentioned, only View Docs Online and Google Docs can view DOCX (Microsoft Word 2007) files. If you wish to view a DOCX file using one of the other sites, you must first use a free online file converter, such as Zamzar or Media Convert, to convert it to DOC format.
You can also use a free online file converter to convert DOC files to a format you can read on your computer, such as TXT (plain text) or RTF (rich text format).
